Insurance Types
Know your insurance terminology and be sure that you’ve covered yourself for all emergency situations. Every state varies regarding what type of insurance is required by law. You’ll want to consider all your options. A low deductible may seem attractive, but if you’re in a serious accident it could cost you much more in the long run.
Bodily Injury
This part of a policy covers you against liability in the event that another person is physically harmed in an accident you’re involved in. All 50 states require at least liability coverage.
Personal Injury Protection
This offers you and your passengers medical coverage if you’re injured in an accident. Compare the policies in this clause with your medical and disability coverage to see how important this will be in your overall insurance package.
Collision and Comprehensive Coverage
This part of the policy focuses on your property in the event of an accident, theft or natural disaster. If you have an older car, you’ll want to compare the car’s value to the overall cost of this policy.
Uninsured Motorist
Having insurance may be the law but not everyone will follow it. This policy will cover you if you’re in an accident with someone who doesn’t have insurance.
